The first thing I want to start with, and the most important, is that You Matter. I Matter. We All Matter. For years this has been a very elusive, difficult concept for me to grasp. It has only been of late that I have really come to embrace the idea that I matter.
For so many years, I have focused on others - my family, friends, my parents ( I am currently the caregiver for both of my parents), my patients ( a Licensed Physical Therapist) - and I think that is a very good and honorable trait. But, I really never paid attention to me, my needs and actually felt guilty if I focused on myself. I have paid for that mindset physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally and even, financially - putting others' needs over my own.
And please hear me, I am not saying caring for others is a bad thing, quite the opposite. I have experienced some of the greatest joy in caring for two amazing humans - my mom and dad.
But, I have learned that I matter and practicing Self-Care DOES NOT mean we are being selfish or self-absorbed. But it does mean that we are being very mindful of our own needs so we can better support the people we care about. By taking care of yourself, meeting your own, authentic needs, you present a better YOU to YOURSELF and to the World.
It is with this mindset that I created The Breath Spa. A place where people looking to create some Self-Care Practices in their own lives could come and honor themselves as well as encourage others in their practice of self-care. I hope this site serves YOU and I support YOU in your Self-Care Journey.
You can't afford NOT to relax,
Your health depends upon it.
